We see the beauty of good parenting and black pride mixed in with the harmonious compilation of Esperanza Spalding and Alegebra Blesset in their song “Black Gold.” It melts my heart and builds it back up with confidence and pride to hear such an inspiring tune. Plagued in a World full of stereotypical images of the lackadaisical black man, it is so good to see one so invested in enriching his children with the knowledge of their ancestors. And then experiencing the African American queens of these two wonderful musicians is just the icing on the cake. I love how the smooth jazz instruments rivet such a heartwarming melody with their voices. Spalding is a force of unique musical talent. Her charming soft voice blends in wonderfully with Blessing’s delightful low croons. These two together create a concoction of magic for the many of us who need to understand and appreciate our African history.
