Been to the Moon by Corinne Bailey Rae

This songstress has kept away from us for far too long. Yes! I know she has her own life. But Corinne Bailey Rae’s music has always been just the right sound I needed to hear without even knowing it. I am truly pleased to hear that she’s making music again. In her latest video, “Been to the Moon,” one can see how far she’s grown musically. The sound has a celestial approach that leaps along with her sweet, soft croons. Feel the heart of this production at the chorus – her voice soulfully intertwines with the light changes of the beat. This psychedelic track is a marriage between the new and the old. Don’t let your ears meander away from it; take a listen below.

Jill Scott – You Don’t Know

You know that feeling when you see someone again after a long time. A flush of emotion empowers your face muscles into a smile and a warm surge spreads across your body as you take in the embrace from this missed individual. Good memories flow through your mind like a rushing river while you catch up with this special person.

Honestly, the very second I clicked play on “You Don’t Know” by Jill Scott all those fantastic emotions emanated throughout my spirit. Her infectious soul enchanted me like it did when I first heard her single “A Long Walk” through her dynamic presentation. Ms. Scott looked like she was literally within the words she belted – the powerful thralls of that mushy L word we all desire have elevated her performance into something quite raw, honest and downright captivating. The soulful jazz sounds of the band marries effectively with her impeccable vocals. If you’ve been feeling a little flat lately, please take in the audio medicine of this delightful tune, it will surely lift your spirits.

My Love – Corinne Bailey Rae

I’m seriously going through a Corinne Bailey Rae withdrawal. Her last album “The Sea” was an absolute masterpiece. But it’s been four years. My arms are shaking from the desire to have her sweet melody fill my ears. Until she ever produces another album, today I am satisfying my need with some old tracks. Luckily, I was able to discover a gem I’ve never heard of. “My Love” is an enchanting lullaby of a song. My nerves are retracting from the light, high notes of her voice married with the gentle guitar playing and drums. God must have known my troubles because he sent me a true piece of art embedded in the delectable tunes of “My Love.” Check this treasure out for yourself.

Q.U.E.E.N by Janelle Monae featuring Erykah Badu

This is something that has to be done more. Two extremely unique individuals blending their talents to bring music hydration for us all to hear. Welcome the Queen in her funky new joint by the same name. The chic fashion sense and electrifying energy thumping through the beat throws the senses into overdrive. Don’t be afraid to let your body feel the uncontrollable urge to move. Feel the power of “Q.U.E.E.N.”

Imagine It Was Us by Jessie Ware

Jessie-Ware-Imagine-It-Was-Us-The-Heartbeat-Life-2
Dance music at it’s best, Jessie Ware brings her sultry mist of vocal pleasure in her latest single “Imagine It Was Us.” Skate blades thudding across the Coney Island boardwalk as the rhythm rushes through my bones on a sunny day is an imagery that spills into my mind as I listen to this track. The soft, yet intense beat is dripping with energetic flavor to get you moving during this slow winter. Ware’s cotton voice mixed in with the vivacious techno beat is just the right source to bring a little oomph into your spirit. Check out the tune below, but try to ignore the random guy shouting in the background at times. It’s also available on itunes and on the extended version of her latest sensation Devotion which will also have a US release April 16.
